An Oklahoma woman is accused of selling a Quarter Horse that did not belong to her, and of illegally altering the ownership documents connected to another.

In a written statement, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) Special Ranger Bart Perrier said a pair of registered Quarter Horses had allegedly been placed on loan with Alana Diane Owens. Owens then allegedly sold one horse to an out-of-state buyer without the owner's permission, Perrier said; investigators found that horse in Nebraska, he said. The second horse was still in Owens' possession when investigators allegedly found altered documents, Perrier said.

Owens was subsequently arrested and charged with felony embezzlement, Perrier's statement said. She is currently free on $5,000 bond, the statement said.
