Wanted Alabama Man Escapes on Horseback

An Alabama man wanted on a pair of criminal warrants escaped arrest by fleeing on horseback.
A written statement from the DeKalb County, Alabama, Sheriff’s Department, stated that deputies responded to a call about a man riding a horse and a woman riding an all-terrain vehicle leading another horse on March 25. The caller told deputies that neither the man nor the woman owned a horse, the statement said.
DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris said Deputy Jeff Bain located the suspects on a nearby highway and identified the man as Joseph Santiago. Santiago is wanted on warrants for criminal trespassing and harassment, Harris said. More charges are expected to follow, he said. Harris did not name the female suspect.
Harris said Santiago fled on horseback when Bain attempted to arrest him. Neither the horse nor Santiago was injured in the escape, and the woman also escaped, Harris said
