Barn Fire Kills Horses in New York

Crews responded to a fire in a barn housing 24 horses at the Mount Hope Training Center, in Middletown, in the early hours of June 2 and were unable to save any horses.

Fire investigators in New York are probing the cause of a barn fire that killed more than 20 Standardbred horses.

Vini Tankasali, deputy commissioner for the Orange County Division of Fire Services, said crews responded to a fire in a barn housing 24 horses at the Mount Hope Training Center, in Middletown, New York, in the early hours of June 2.

“The barn was fully involved in fire when crews got there,” he said.

All the horses in the barn at the time of the blaze perished
