More Than 30 Horses Seized in Wisconsin

Authorities found 34 horses in various stages of alleged ill health and malnutrition and two other horses’ remains at the farm in Strongs Prairie.

Two Wisconsin woman are facing multiple charges in connection with the alleged maltreatment of more than 30 horses on their Adams County farm

A written statement from Adams County, Wisconsin, Sheriff Sam Wollin said investigators visited a Strongs Prairie farm to conduct a welfare check on horses there on Nov. 1. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 34 horses in various stages of alleged ill health and malnutrition. One horse found down in a paddock was euthanized by a veterinarian.  Investigators also found two other horses’ remains at the scene, Wollin’s statement said. An initial investigation indicated the horses died from malnutrition and lack of care, he said.

Following a full investigation, law enforcement personnel seized the live horses. They are currently receiving rehabilitative care, Wollin said
