Mississippi Sees Its First Equine Case of WNV in 2020

Officials at the Mississippi Board of Animal Health (MBAH) confirmed the state’s first case of West Nile virus (WNV) on July 21 in Scott County. The affected horse, a 7-year-old unvaccinated Quarter Horse mare, began experiencing neurologic clinical signs on July 17. She is reported as recovering.
