Man Faces Multiple Charges After Texas Horse Herd Seizure

A Texas man is facing multiple animal cruelty charges after officials seized more than 30 allegedly maltreated horses from a McLennan County farm last month. Two other individuals are also charged in connection with the incident.
In March McLennan County Sheriff’s Office personnel seized 32 horses allegedly residing on a property near China Springs without food or water access. McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said the horses had been brought to the farm by their owners for training. Following the seizure, all the horses were removed to a nearly ranch for a veterinary evaluation and rehabilitative care before being returned to their owners.
Subsequently, authorities charted Trentin Bolden, a property owner and self-described horse trainer, with four counts of animal cruelty. They also charted his girlfriend Keirstin Perkins with one count of animal cruelty and mother Gina Bolden with one count of making a false report to a peace officer.
None of the three were available for comment.
On April 9, a McLennan County judge awarded the horses to the Sheriff’s Department and ordered that Bolden be financially responsible for the $9,400 initial cost of caring for the horses, as well as for the future care of the animals. He has 10 days to appeal the order
