Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) officials have released the equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) quarantine that was enacted at a Howard County, Maryland, training facility on June 22. The quarantine came as the result of two horses at the facility that tested positive for EHV-1.

The first horse affected—one of 28 horses in an isolated barn—and was euthanized due to complications.

A second horse tested positive on June 26 and was subsequently moved to a quarantine facility for treatment.
The second horse has tested negative on two separate tests, and none of the other horses developed clinical signs of EHV-1 after 21-plus days
