- Topics: Article, Equine Herpesvirus (EHV)
Samples taken from a horse exhibiting neurologic signs in the stabling area at the Appaloosa Horse Club World Championship Horse Show have tested negative for equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1), according to a release from the Appaloosa Horse Club.
"We received word from the diagnostic lab at the University of California, Davis, that the ‘suspect’ horse at the World Show in Fort Worth, Texas, is not infected with EHV-1," a statement from the organization read. "The negative test result means that the World Sale goes tonight at 9:00 and a consolidated class schedule will start tomorrow (Thursday) morning."
Earlier today (Oct. 26) the World Show was postponed when a horse residing on the competition grounds began displaying neurologic clinical signs.
