Two Shetland ponies donated to the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation by the American Shetland Pony Club have landed safely in Hong Kong. They are in quarantine preparing for the presentation ceremony to be held July 10.

The ponies were purchased for the federation after American Shetland Pony Club (ASPC) Marketing Director Johnny Robb discovered that there were only a few ponies in Hong Kong imported by the local riding schools to be used as school ponies, as well as six mini ponies reportedly left by a Russian circus. The ASPC also wanted to salute the Equestrian Federation’s efforts in hosting the 2008 Equestrian Olympics

The ponies have arrived in Hong Kong.

Other groups and companies chipped in to organize transportation, appropriate tack, grooming supplies, and health support for the ponies.

“Our Shetland ponies have truly been a part of the fabric of American life. I thought it would be so special if we could thank the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation by sending a gift of two of our ponies,” said Robb.

The ponies are national champion riding and driving pony, FMF Imagination, and PC’s Karmel Kid, a pony trained in the Olympic discipline of dressage.
