Kentucky Stallion Sahm Dead
Sahm, the sole male offspring from the great European mare Salsabil, was euthanized March 20 because of an ongoing intestinal disease. The 13-year-old son of Mr. Prospector stood at Sheikh Hamdan’s Shadwell Farm near Lexington.

Sahm, the sole male offspring from the great European mare Salsabil, was euthanized March 20 because of an ongoing intestinal disease. The 13-year-old son of Mr. Prospector stood at Sheikh Hamdan’s Shadwell Farm near Lexington.
Sahm raced as a homebred for Shadwell Stable, winning twice in England and capturing the Knickerbocker Handicap at Aqueduct. He retired with five wins from 11 races and earnings of $198,879.
As a stallion, Sahm sired a half-dozen stakes winners, including Irish group II winner Mustameet and 2007 U.S. stakes winner Irish Dreamer. His runners have earned $3.8 million.
Deceased Salsabil, by Sadler’s Wells, proved extra special by winning the 1990 Budweiser Irish Derby over males, as well as championships in three countries
