The role of the veterinarian during the WEG is variable depending on their official position. Below is a brief outline of these roles, but it is certainly not reflective of the dedication and breadth of responsibilities that fall on the veterinary team during this world-class competition.

Veterinary Commission: There are several veterinary commissions that oversee the eight different disciplines at the WEG. The head of the FEI veterinary department is Dr. Graeme Cooke from Great Britain. Each veterinary commission consists of the president, a foreign veterinary delegate and four associate members, except for the endurance commission which has eleven associates. A veterinarian may be on more than one commission, but the presidents are certainly very experienced with the high level FEI competition in that discipline
