A Texas couple is facing multiple animal cruelty charges after authorities removed more than 30 horses from their Eastland County farm.

Eastland County Deputy Sheriff Ben Yarbrough said deputies responded to a report about allegedly maltreated horses residing on a property near Esdemona, Texas, on May 30. Investigators discovered 31 horses, most of which were in drylots and/or small pens with no shade or shelter, he said.

After an investigation officials took the horses to the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) for rehabilitative, veterinary, and farrier care
