Amid Congressional strife over immigration issues, the full U.S. House of Representatives approved the Farm Bill, by a narrow margin earlier this week.

Introduced into the House in April, HR 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018, funds USDA programs through 2023.

Last month, the legislation failed to pass a full House vote largely due to debate over immigration reform led by members of the House Freedom Caucus and because some Republication lawmakers voted with their Democratic colleagues. The measure was subsequently tabled.

On June 21 HR 2 was reintroduced onto the House floor as unfinished business. In a subsequent re-vote, the House passed the bill 213-211
