scott hay selected as AAEP vice president

Scott Hay, DVM, president and managing shareholder of the Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based racetrack practice Teigland, Franklin, and Brokken DVMs, Inc., has been named American Association of Equine Practitioners’ (AAEP) 2019 vice president.

He will be installed during the Dec. 4 President’s Luncheon at the 2018 AAEP Convention in San Francisco, California, and will become AAEP president in 2021.

Hay joined Teigland, Franklin, and Brokken shortly after graduating from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, in Manhattan, in 1988. His clinical focus is on lameness, performance evaluations, and purchase examinations.

Since joining in the AAEP in 1988, Hay has volunteered considerable time and expertise in service to the association.

“The founding fathers of my practice have always seen the importance of the AAEP and encouraged their colleagues to be involved in the organization,” he said. “Most of my involvement with AAEP has been on racing issues, but I look forward to working in the organization from a broader perspective.”

He is currently a veterinary spokesperson for the On Call program and previously served on the board of directors from 2008-2011. He also served as chair of the Racing Committee and as a member of the Professional Conduct and Ethics Committee.

In addition, he is co-chair of the Racing Medication and Testing Consortium Scientific Advisory Committee and a member of the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation Advisory Committee.
