NY Officials Confirm Three Additional Horses With EEE

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets (NYSDAM) confirmed three (unvaccinated) horses with Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE): two from Oswego County and one from Ontario County.

The first horse, an Oswego County gelding of unreported age and breed experienced onset of clinical signs including blindness, fever, recumbency, and staggering, on Aug. 25.

On Aug. 27, another Oswego County horse, a 16-year-old mare, presented with clinical signs including recumbency, inability to rise, and mental dullness on Aug. 27
