In its July 27 Situation Report, the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed four new positive equine premises in Missouri. Two confirmed positive equine premises are in McDonald County—the state’s newest infected county. Cedar and Newton counties each have one new confirmed positive equine premises.

Missouri currently contains five affected counties, with 18 confirmed positive premises, nine suspect premises, and 27 currently quarantined premises:

  • Cedar (2, 0, 2)
  • Jasper (7, 5, 12)
  • Lawrence (1, 0, 1)
  • McDonald (2, 0, 2)
  • Newton (6, 4, 10)

At this time, no premises have been released from VSV quarantine in Missouri.

Premises with confirmed positive and suspect cases are quarantined and monitored by veterinarians for at least 14 days from the onset of lesions in the last animal affected
