AMMVEE Hosts Annual Convention

The Mexican Association of Equine Practitioners (AMMVEE) hosted its 38th annual convention Oct. 5-8, 2016, in the historic city of Querétaro.
The main focus of the Congress was equine welfare in honor of Aline Schunemann de Aluja, MVZ, MSc, an emeritus professor at the National University of Mexico. She is a pioneer of equine and animal welfare in Mexico, and the conference organizers recognized her long and persistent fight for working equids.
Professors from Canada, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, and several Latin American countries traveled to Queretaro to present lectures. Ruben Anguiano, MVZ, MSc, represented WEVA as the regional ambassador and presented the award to Schunemann de Aluja. Other conference attendees included Kathleen Anderson, DVM, president of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, and Derek Knottenbelt, OBE, BVM &S, DVM, Dipl. ECEIM, MRCVS, emeritus professor of the University of Liverpool, in the U.K., who is known globally for his work and pursuits in equine welfare.
The organizers announced that the 2017 AMMVEE convention will take place in city of Veracruz
