British horse owners and keepers are urged to take part in the National Equine Health Survey from May 22-29.

The National Equine Health Survey (NEHS) is a short snapshot survey of general horse health in the United Kingdom that is already helping to make an important difference to the health and welfare of horses and ponies. It is run annually during the month of May by the charity Blue Cross, in partnership with the British Equine Veterinary Association, and with the support of many of the country’s equestrian charities and organizations.

Over the past six years NEHS has become one of the U.K.’s most significant endemic-disease-monitoring initiatives. Veterinary and equestrian publications and papers reference the study’s results, which are regarded as benchmarks for general horse health knowledge.

Last year owners and caretakers of nearly 17,000 horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules returned surveys
