Equine Antibiotic Resistance Increased after Hospitalization

A team of researchers working at Philip Leverhulme Equine Hospital in Liverpool found that Escherichia coli bacteria in a horse’s intestine appear to acquire antibiotic resistance while a horse is hospitalized.

Texas State Veterinarian to Retire in December

Bob Hillman, DVM, Texas’ state veterinarian and executive director of the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC), has announced that he will retire December 31, ending his nearly seven-year tenure with the state’s livestock and poultry health regulatory agency. Tickets to the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games went on sale today at noon EDT, exactly one year before the Games open in Lexington, Ky.
