When caring for your horse, consistency is key—especially when it comes to feeding and support strategies. Whether your horse spends his days in the show ring, on the trail, or simply enjoying pasture life, his daily routine plays a critical role in gastric and overall health.

With this in mind, PhD Nutritionists developed Purina® Outlast® gastric support supplement to help support the horse’s gastric comfort through daily life stressors. It’s the result of years of internal research and development by a team dedicated to creating a product to solve a real problem for horses and their owners.

Built on Proven Science

Purina® Outlast®Gastric Support Supplement is designed to be fed with confidence across a wide range of management styles and disciplines. It contains a mineral complex with a unique honeycomb structure that increases surface area, and features bioavailable calcium and magnesium—enhancing its ability to support equine gastric comfort. Research at the Purina Animal Nutrition center in a simulated gastric environment showed that equine gastric pH was less acidic in horses supplemented with Outlast® supplement and that Outlast® supplement buffered faster and to a higher pH than other products on the market. This is because not all calcium sources are equalr. Outlast’s seaweed-derived calcium has a higher overall ability to neutralize acid compared to calcium sources found in other products.

During development, in vitro testing helped refine the formulation to ensure fast buffering capacity. These trials measured its effects in a simulated gastric environment. The results were clear: Outlast® supplement works faster than other products in maintaining optimal pH. Controlled field trials then supported these results in horses under real-world conditions.

Putting Outlast® Gastric Support Supplement to the Test

Purina encourages horse owners to take a close look at their supplement choices. That’s why they created the Test R.I.D.E.® evaluation framework—an easy way to test a product’s value.

Research: Outlast® supplement is backed by 95,492 field tests, 3,000 hours of research, and five peer-reviewed studies before its launch in 2017.

Ingredients: Every ingredient serves a specific purpose in supporting equine gastric health, with no unnecessary fillers.

Delivered Amount: The formula is designed so that the key buffering ingredients are included in effective amounts for the size of the horse.

Efficacy: Horse owners can see and feel the difference. Outlast® supplement helps horses handle everyday stressors like training, travel, and changes in routine.
