On Feb. 26 the U.S. Olympic Committee and Allstate Insurance Company announced the list of nominees eligible for induction into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame presented by Allstate. Among the 18 nominees is William Steinkraus, a member of the U.S. show jumping team at five Olympic Games.

Steinkraus won the individual Gold medal at the 1986 Mexico City Olympics aboard Snowbound. He won team Silver medals on two occasions: at the 1960 Rome games with Ksar d’Espirt and at the 1972 Munich games with Main Spring. Aboard Hollandia, Steinkraus won a team Bronze medal at the 1952 Helskini Olympics.

Steinkraus retired from international competition in 1972 and was inducted into the Show Jumping Hall of Fame in 1987.

The United States Olympic Committee is seeking the public to help select the eight inductees (six Olympians, one Paralympian, and one team) that will make up the 2012 induction class. Fans can vote online at TeamUSA.org/halloffame. Voters will be allowed to vote once per day, per category, through April 9, 2012
