An Imlay Township, Mich., man was charged Tuesday with transporting a horse across state lines without a health certificate and taking a horse off his farm while a quarantine order was in effect, The Flint Journal reported.

The accused, Chisholm Alexander, 31, is currently serving 90 days in jail for theft. An alleged coworker, Chad Mills, 34, was also charged with the transport violation.

The accused allegedly brought a horse to Michigan from Oklahoma without health papers.

The horse tested positive for equine infectious anemia (EIA) and the farm was quarantined. This horse was euthanatized. While still under quarantine, a horse that had tested negative for EIA was removed from the premises, The Flint Journal reported
