The Kentucky Horse Park came away empty-handed after seeking money to build an outdoor stadium in preparation for the 2010 World Equestrian Games.


The General Assembly’s inaction on the spending request hasn’t jeopardized the Horse Park’s status as the host for an event that will attract global attention and hundreds of thousands of equestrian fans to central Kentucky.


The WEG, the world governing body for equine sports, expressed confidence in the games’ organizers, who requested the extra state money for improvements to the Horse Park.


“So far, we trust that they will provide for really excellent games and they will deliver,” said Malina Gueorguiev, a spokeswoman for the Switzerland-based International Equestrian Federation
