Law enforcement authorities in Parker County, Texas, hope the offer of a $10,700 cash reward will result in the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the shooting death of a young Quarter Horse last month.

On Jan. 24 ranch hands discovered the 7-month-old filly dead in its Weatherford pasture. The horse had been shot between the eyes at close range with a high-powered rifle, said Parker County Sheriff's Deputy Danie Huffman.

If caught, those responsible for the incident could face animal cruelty charges.

"Weatherford is the cutting horse capital of the world. We take this crime very seriously," Huffman said
