Standing at 34 inches tall, Little Kings Buckaroo Renaissance has a presence that dwarfs his physical small stature.

“Renny,” a Miniature Horse, was donated to the University of Kentucky’s (UK) Gluck Equine Research Center’s parasitology research herd this spring. His job, as the all-important herd stallion, is to ensure genetic diversity and improve herd health.

Ed and Marianne Eberth, who own Little King Farm, in Madison, Indiana, have a long history of working with the Gluck Center and furthering Miniature horse breeding and genetics research. Before they donated Renny, they’d donated a herd of Miniature Horses—along with the stallion Komokos Wee Willie—in the early 1980s to start a research herd with Gluck Center researchers Tom Swerczak, PhD, and Gene Lyons, PhD
