Idaho Horse Tests Positive for West Nile Virus

The Idaho State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) confirmed a Twin Falls, Idaho, horse with West Nile virus (WNV) on Aug. 23. The unvaccinated 12-year-old Quarter Horse mare, one of 10 horses exposed, began to show clinical signs of ataxia (incoordination) and inappetence on Aug. 17 and is undergoing treatment.

This case marks Idaho’s third confirmed positive case of West Nile virus in 2019.
