Oklahoma Adds Newly Confirmed VSV-Positive Premises

In its July 16 Situation Report, the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed Craig County, Oklahoma, as newly infected with vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV). One equine premises was identified as positive.

The 2020 VSV outbreak began in Dona Ana County, New Mexico, on April 13. Oklahoma’s first positive premises, in Washington County, were announced on July 7. The state currently has one quarantined premises in Craig County and three in Washington County.

Premises with confirmed positive and suspect cases are quarantined and monitored by veterinarians for at least 14 days from the onset of lesions in the last animal affected
