Charges against a South Carolina lawyer accused of stealing a horse in Breathitt County, Kentucky, have been dropped due to lack of probable cause.

In December 2016, Curtis Bostic was arrested and charged with the unlawful taking of livestock for allegedly removing a horse from a Breathitt County property. 

Breathitt County, along with other eastern Kentucky counties, is home to a group of horses that reside and graze on coal reclamation properties. Some of those horses are abandoned while others are put out to graze and later reclaimed by their owners.

After being released on bond, Bostic said he was attempting to rescue a seemingly abandoned young horse that appeared to be too weak to withstand the winter
