Maryland Horse Shooter Sought
Law enforcement authorities in Maryland are seeking those responsible for shooting a show horse residing in a Charles County pasture. Diane Richardson, press secretary for Charles County Sheriff Rex Coffey said the horse’s owner discovered the 8-year-old Morgan horse lying in its pasture on Jan. 21. The horse had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was later euthanized.

ASPCA Grants More Than $1 Million to Equine Groups in 2010
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) announced on Feb. 4 that it awarded $1,055,400 in the form of 93 grants to support equine rescue groups in 32 states in 2010.
