  1. The answer I really wanted to check wasn’t available: I’m concerned about the efficacy of supplements. There are no testing requirements (i.e., the FDA) like there are for prescription drugs. There is no regulating agency so manufacturers can put whatever they want in their products. They sometimes follow ISO 9001 standards for quality management but that’s pretty rare. Supplements are very expensive and most of the time there is only anecdotal evidence as to their effectiveness. I’ve learned to invest my money in prescription meds over supplements.
