  1. I think that is GREAT IDVICE! Just as humans do better by remaining active, our animals do well also! My problem is my endurance horse has developed heaves 🙁 so I’m keeping him comfortable blanketing when cold, and I do not have him in a barn) But unfortunately at 25 my dear boy is limited to easy rides, which is hard for him & me, as we both love to just go!! But I’m looking after him well, ensuring he gets extra feed (step 8 and beet pulp plus hay) as recommended by my vet. Plus if it gets cold (which it does in northern alberta) I will blanket him. Thanks for your input!!

  2. Exercise, exercise, exercise in varied rugged mountainous terrain–up, down, around, in sandy washes, water, hard rocky tracks, loose rocky slopes–has kept my senior barefoot and booted horse arthritis free with clean legs and bones. He does not live in a stall with opportunity to simply stand around. He has to walk to his water and walk to another location for food and is constantly moving up and down ravines when pastured.
