The Tehama County horse marks the state’s fourth WNV case in 2022.
The state veterinarian reported another WNV positive horse in Utah.
Both horses are associated with bush track Quarter Horse racing in South Carolina.
Two horses tested positive for strangles in Michigan, and a foal is suspected positive in Wisconsin.
The affected mare resides in Sacramento County and is recovering.
13 counties were declared federal disaster areas, and efforts are being made to help the horses in need.
The Uintah County horse has been euthanized.
The 6-year-old Gypsy gelding was confirmed positive on Aug. 16.
The boarding facility where the horses reside is under quarantine, and 30 horses were exposed.
The Quarter Horse gelding resides in Weld County.
The Lake County farm is under official quarantine.
The Quarter Horse mare resided in Jay County.
The gelding resides in Benton County, Oregon.
