When is an Older Horse Ready for Senior Feed?
Senior horses might need specialized management to keep their joints healthy as they age. | Anne M. Eberhardt/ The Horse

Maintaining joint health is important at all stages of your horse’s life, but he might need special considerations during his senior years. Osteoarthritis can affect horses in obvious ways, such as lameness, but sometimes the signs of arthritis are subtle. Understanding how to recognize the signs of osteoarthritis can help you and your veterinarian develop a treatment and management plan that will keep him comfortable throughout his golden years.

To help horse owners better understand senior horse joint care, NexHA has partnered with TheHorse.com for Senior Horse Joint Care Awareness Week, starting May 28, 2024.

Look for senior horse joint management content all week on TheHorse.com, our Facebook page, and in our e-newsletters.
