Law enforcement authorities in Miami Gardens, Fla., are hoping the public can help them find those responsible for allegedly leaving two Paint horses in a barn that had been nailed shut.

Miami Gardens Public Information Officer Det. Mike Wright said that on July 7 a caller reported seeing a pair of allegedly emaciated Paints trapped without food or water in a barn that had been nailed shut. Detectives responded to the scene along with Laurie Waggoner, director of ranch operations for the South Florida Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

“The horses were determined to be emaciated and placed in SPCA care,” Wright said.
