An article today (Sept. 28) at racingandsports.com.au said Racing Victoria in Australia has canceled all hurdle racing in the territory for the remainder of the season. The decision was based on legal advice after safety concerns surfaced concerning the modular hurdles being used.

The article stated Racing Victoria made the decision because “modular hurdles raise significant safety concerns in their current form that cannot be rectified in the short term.”

There will be no hurdle trials or schooling for the remainder of the jump season. Previous hurdle races will be run as high weight flat races. Steeplechase races will be run as normal
