On Saturday, Dec. 16, USDA Government Veterinarian, Dr. Julie Gauthier, will meet with equestrians, community members, and members of the media to discuss the equine rhinopneumonitis. The disease, also known as equine herpesvirus or EHV, is a highly infectious viral disease that may be affecting the Wellington community. Early reports indicate that this disease might be the root cause of the recent outbreak in the area.

In an attempt to contain and control this illness, Stadium Jumping Inc. elected to cancel the American Grand Prix Association Championship and the Christmas Festival Horse Show, scheduled for this weekend in Wellington.

The meeting with Gauthier will be held at 10:00am in the Jockey Club at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club on 14440 Pierson Road in Wellington, Fla. The Jockey Club, also referred to as the VIP tent, is located adjacent to the large, grass Internationale Arena.
