The Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP) board announced an annual $1,000 scholarship program in May 2006.  The deadline for applications is Thursday, June 15.

The five individual scholarships will be awarded to legal Kentucky State residents who are current full-time students with junior or senior undergraduate status at Kentucky Universities/Colleges and have declared their majors in equine bachelor’s degree programs. The winning students must have a 2.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale, and they must be current KEEP members.

The purpose of the KEEP Scholarship Program is to provide scholarships to students pursuing a career in the horse industry who demonstrate financial need, academic success, show a commitment to Kentucky’s Horse Industry, hard work, and determination.

All five scholarship winners will be awarded before the start of the fall 2006 semester. A committee of the KEEP Board and chaired by Dan Kenny, a Lexington bloodstock agent, will select the winners. All scholarships must be postmarked no later than June 15 to be eligible. The scholarship application and requirements can be found on KEEP’s web site at www.horseswork.com
