In an effort to avoid downgrading of trails across the nation, Back Country Horsemen of America (BCHA) is urging anyone who uses trails for hiking, camping, backpacking, horse or mule packing, hunting and fishing, or biking, to find out exactly how the trails in their area are classified.

If a trail is downgraded, there will be reduced maintenance on it, and restricted access. Downgraded trails may become unsafe or unavailable for equine usage
