PITTSBURGH…InventHelp announces that two of its clients, inventors from Franklin, Ohio, have designed a blanket to protect a horse’s hindquarters from fly bites. The invention is patent pending, and the inventors have created a prototype.
Approximately 4.9 million horses are involved in shows and recreational riding. Protecting a horse’s backside from biting insects can be a problem, especially on hot days or whenever the animal is perspiring. The SHOO FLY BLANKET improves comfort for the horse and rider by protecting the horse’s rump from insect bites.
The blanket reduces the need for a horse to swat insects with its tail, and can be stored in a space-saving manner. It also prevents bite marks that detract from the appearance of a horse that is shown competitively. The experiences of one inventor led to the development of this equine blanket. Also, unlike other methods of covering and protecting the hindquarters, this enhanced horse blanket is designed to remain firmly in position. “While riding my horse one day, I noticed other riders placing towels over the back of their horses to protect them from bug bites,” she said. “The towels kept slipping off.
