Tennessee law enforcement authorities are hoping the public can help identify whoever cut a horse's leg while it grazed in its Washington County pasture.

Washington County Sheriff's Department Investigator Nicki Salyer said department personnel responded to a call on July 15 from an owner reporting that, sometime between the evening of July 14 and the morning of July 15, a Quarter Horse had been slashed at a farm near Jonesborough. Investigations found that the animal had sustained a 3-inch gash on its left rear leg, she said.

“There were no other injuries on the horse's body,” Salyer said.
