As part of its ongoing commitment to support the communities in which it does business, Cargill announced today it has donated $10,000 to Children’s Center Charities’ Hippotherapy Program.

The word “hippotherapy” comes from the Greek word “hippos,” which means horse. The Hippotherapy Program introduces horses and horseback riding into therapy in order to help children with disabilities further develop motor skills, practice following directions and improve logical thinking skills.

“Horses are very effective in this kind of therapy because they are naturally rhythmic in movement, and in many ways complement the way a human moves and interacts,” said Jennifer Adrian, director of nonprofit programs for Children’s Center Charities.
Children’s Center Charities is a non-profit organization located in Iowa City. It provides services such as physical, occupational and speech therapy to children with developmental delays or diagnosed disabilities
