Georgia Horses Under Care After Seizure
- Topics: Article
A herd of 40 allegedly maltreated horses are under rehabilitative care after their removal from a Clarkesville, Ga., property on Monday.
Habersham County Director of Animal services Jason Smith said county animal control authorities and personnel from the Lil One's Ridin' Ranch horse rescue removed the animals after county officials assumed an earlier Georgia Department of Agriculture investigation into a neighbor's complaint about the horses' condition.
Lil One's Ridin' Ranch president Angie Engle said the agency is treating the removed horses, including some pregnant mares and foals, for malnutrition and other conditions.
The property's owner James Tillman Goss was unavailable for comment on the removal
