A Kansas woman and her son are facing multiple animal cruelty charges after authorities seized a herd of horses and multiple head of cattle from their Saline County properties.

Lieutenant Michael Ascher, of the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, said on April 18 law enforcement personnel responded to a complaint about alleged animal maltreatment on two properties near Salina, Kansas. A subsequent investigation revealed that 50 allegedly maltreated horses were residing on two properties belonging to Beverly Fullen and her son Matthew Fullen. Authorities also found about 100 head of allegedly maltreated cattle and another 32 domestic animals including dogs, cats, and a pair of goats, Ascher said.

“The animals were removed to (undisclosed) locations where their conditions are being evaluated,” he said.

Authorities subsequently arrested Beverly Fullen and charged here with two felony and more than 150 misdemeanor animal cruelty counts. Matthew Fullen was arrested and charged with one felony and more than 100 misdemeanor animal cruelty counts, Ascher said
