New Jersey Equine Sanctuary Operator Charged

The operator of a New Jersey equine sanctuary is facing multiple animal cruelty charges for allegedly maltreating horses, donkeys, and other animals in her care.
In a written statement, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said Waterford Township Police Department officers acted on a search warrant to conduct a welfare check on the approximately 70 animals residing at the Labrador Hill Equine Sanctuary on July 13. As a result of the search, property owner and sanctuary operator Sarah Rabinowitz received a court order to take “immediate remedial measures” regarding insufficient water sources and inadequate sheltering for the animals.
Authorities also charged Rabinowitz with 57 fourth-degree counts of causing bodily injury to a living animal or creature by failing to provide necessary care to the animals, as well as five counts of animal cruelty for failing to provide necessary care.
