This discussion at the 50th annual American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Convention in Denver, Colo., Dec. 4-8, 2004, was presided over by Patrick McCue, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ACT, associate professor of equine ambulatory medicine at Colorado State University, and Dean Neely, VMD, PhD, of New Jersey. It was a wide-ranging discussion, with the moderators asking for comments and questions from the audience rather than setting the agenda.

Much of the time spent talking centered around the administration of equine follicle stimulating hormone to mares to stimulate the ovulation of multiple eggs. The once “breakthrough” approach has gained wide usage in the veterinary community, based on communication during the session. A number of practitioners and educators shared individual experiences concerning the use of FSH.
