The Ryerss Farm Auxiliary is hard at work, preparing for the Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines’ Third Annual Benefit Auction. The benefit-the year’s banner event for Ryerss’ fundraising efforts–will be held on Sun., Oct. 19 from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Last year’s auction netted nearly $16,000 to help the non-profit and lots more donations and attendees will be needed to make this year’s edition an even bigger success.

“We’re still looking for many different types of donations,” said Lucia Still, auction organizer. “Big items are great for the live auction and small items are really appreciated for the silent auction.” Still says that while horse-related gifts are popular, any type of donation is welcome. In past years auction guests have bid on a wide array of artwork, theater tickets, vacation getaways, clothing, and even outdoor swings!

This year’s event will once again include both live and silent portions, the live auction held with the help of professional auctioneer Ken Reed. Some of the items up for bid include an advanced Dell printer combination, passes to area museums and events, jewelry of every description, a hot air balloon ride, equine nutrition supplements, a genuine horse hair handbag, and gifts for any type of animal lover. The auction will be a great place to get an early start on Christmas gifts! Donations for the auction will be accepted until September 19 for inclusion in the program.

Great donations are critical to the success of the auction–as are attendees ready to enjoy a fun and exciting afternoon of bidding. To entice visitors, the event offers hors d’oeuvres, coffee and dessert as well as a café area and music to relax and set the mood
