Oklahoma Adds Rogers to List of VSV-Affected Counties
Oklahoma currently contains eight VSV-affected counties, with a total of 14 confirmed positive premises, 0 suspect premises, and 14 premises currently quarantined:
- Adair (1,1)
- Craig (1,1)
- Nowata (1,1)
- Osage (2,2)
- Ottawa (3,3)
- Rogers (1,1)
- Tulsa (1,1)
- Washington (4,4)
Premises with confirmed positive and suspect cases are quarantined and monitored by veterinarians for at least 14 days from the onset of lesions in the last animal affected.
This year’s VSV outbreak originated in Dona Ana County, New Mexico, on April 13, and Oklahoma saw its first confirmed case on July 7 in Washington County. So far in 2020, VSV has been confirmed in Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. All previously infected premises in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas have been released from quarantine
