  1. In general, no I have not had issues but some years we have. This year we brought in a thin (but not starving) OTTB just prior to the cold hitting, He has by far been the most challenging to put weight on during the cold. A good part of it is his energy level, if he would just chill out and relax he would not burn thru so many calories. He has plumped up some though, but not as well as other past actual starvation cases I have had during the winter.
