April 18 marked 100 days remaining until the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

This summer the British capital will play host to the Olympic Games for the third time in history. From July 27 to August 12, London will welcome 10,500 athletes representing 204 National Olympic Committees for the 27th edition of the Summer Olympic Games. More than nine million tickets have already been sold to spectators around the world.

The 2012 Games are significant for the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) as they mark the centenary of equestrian sports on the Olympic program. Forty-one National Olympic Committees qualified by the March 1 deadline have confirmed their participation. Two hundred riders and horses will be competing in jumping, dressage, and three-day eventing at Greenwich Park, the iconic venue for the equestrian events at the heart of the Games.

The next major date in the calendar is June 17, which marks the end of the qualification period for athletes to achieve the required minimum eligibility standards. Definite entries for all three disciplines will be announced on July 9
