A New York woman accused of maltreating horses on her Saratoga County property is facing new charges for failing to contain her animals.

In October, following an investigation by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Upstate New York and New York State Police, Catskill Animal Sanctuary personnel removed 14 allegedly maltreated horses from Ann Arnold’s Greenfield property. The animals were transported to the Sanctuary where they remain under rehabilitative care. Another 9 horses remained on property, and the SPCA is supervising the care of those horses.

Arnold was charged with 19 counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty. She later pleaded not guilty to those charges.

In a written statement issued on Dec. 1, Saratoga County District Attorney James A. Murphy, III said that New York State Police arrested Arnold and charged her with Class B misdemeanor criminal nuisance, for allegedly failing to provide adequate fencing to prevent the remaining horses from running free on her property and onto the road nearby
